Happy Halloween

Yesterday was a Halloween adventure. We began at the bank. The kids got to trade their colored in postcards for a pumpkin. We came back and said goodbye to Rob - he was off to tape a wedding all day and night. We stopped off at the police department to drop off a bag of expired drugs.
We went to Toys r Us to meet Spiderman, Barbie and Geoffrey. I was able to pick up Halloween treats at 50% off, too. We went to Meijer's for their Halloween Carnival - a bit disappointing. They are usually very together but were extremely disorganized on Saturday. Eventually the kids got a glow stick and a few pieces of candy.
We picked Tony up and we came home for lunch and to assemble Ellie's treats for school. We started our afternoon at Presbyterian Home. The kids had a ball and they really get kudos for the best free Halloween activity. They played games, trick or treated, decorate a pumpkin, had snacks, heard stories, got tattoos, went to a petting zoo, got their photo taken and saw the n gauge railway. This was very cool.
We ended our adventure at St. Paul's Trunk or Treat. The kids got to play games and trick or treat through many decorated trunks. We came home and the kids played very nicely together - we ended up outside on bikes and playing soccer. Jo and Ole came to pick T up and we went to pick up dinner.
We had movie night - we were going to watch Hocus Pocus but about 45 minutes into it Nick said he was scared so we switched to Halloween Wars on Food Network. I got the kids to sleep and then watched some TV. Rob got home around 1AM.
Today we started the day with a trip to Mariano's. The kids got a free pumpkin and got to trick or treat around the store. We came home and decorated and carved our pumpkins. I found sidewalk paint in the Halloween box so we went outside and decorated the front walk. It is supposed to glow in the dark - I just hope it survives the rain.
We went to Mom and Dad's for family Sunday. I helped Mom assemble the cannelloni and got the salad ready. We plated up and were ready for dinner. Mom named all the items for the festivities - witch's fingers, hearts and blood, blood and bones...
Everything was delicious. The kids were a bit nuts but that does happen with sugar. We got to share our pictures from the weekend with the GGs. We came home and Ellie did her homework and I gave Nick a bath. I put away a couple baskets of laundry and finally swapped out Ellie's drawers so that Summer clothes are away in the closet and Fall in her drawers.
My body isn't feeling so good the last couple days. I have had some chest pain - started with my phantom Plum pain and has traveled a bit lower today. My ankles hurt - not sure what that is about. My shoulders were feeling better but started a dull pain again tonight. Hoping everyone has a fun Halloween. Visualising my healthy and continually healing body and the new normal, Tree

Seems like a long week

I thought about blogging last night and now regret that I didn't because I don't think I will recall the last 3 days accurately.
Wednesday morning I got Ellie off to the bus and then Nick off to school. I ran to Target and picked up cleaning supplies and paper products. I still had an hour so I ran into Farm Fresh and did some shopping for dinner. I really liked the roasted veggie so I picked up more peppers, asparagus, cauliflower, zucchini and squash. I picked up the makings for tacos for dinner. I still had 30 minutes so I ran into Tuesday Morning but found nothing we needed.
I picked Nick up from school and we came home and I roasted the veggies. We had lunch and then Mom and Dad picked us up for an afternoon adventure. We went to Whole Foods and Target. Nick double fisted samples and then we came home.
Ellie came home from school and we did her homework. Mom and Dad came for dinner and we had tacos and the roasted veggies - cauliflower was super delicious. We watched the Middle and then got the kids to bed.
Thursday was Nick's Halloween parade at school. For the past 2 months his answer to what are you going to be for Halloween has been a chicken. It was 3 minutes before we needed to leave for school and Nick said it wasn't Halloween and only school and he didn't want to be a chicken. We raced downstairs and raided the costume bin and found his train costume. I dropped him at school and then went home to work on the tub. I was able to get all the caulk removed from the tub and around it and prepared for caulk.
Mom and Dad came to pick me up and we went to get Nick. We went up to Grandma Chocolate's house and got a ton accomplished. Ellie had her last cooking class - they made apple crisp. When I went to pick her up she asked if we could make it for dessert. We stopped at the store for the ingredients. We had homemade pizzas for dinner and Ellie's apple crisp for dessert. The kids watched Charlie Brown and then we got them into bed.
Today was sort of a laid back morning. Nick and I went to eat lunch with Rob at work. Nick got to trick or treat around the school and show off his pirate costume (not Halloween couldn't wear the chicken). Rob was a pirate too - it was cute. We stopped off at Mom's and we watched Kiki's Delivery Service - a new movie from the makers of Ponyo.
We came home just in time for Ellie. We ran to BigLots for some things we needed and talked about having a family movie night. We made popcorn and had sundaes and watched Addams Family int he basement. Busy weekend ahead - lots of Halloween activities and events tomorrow. Rob is filming a wedding tomorrow. Family Sunday on Sunday. Should be fun but I think the sugar high will be immense. Visualising my healthy and continually healing body and the new normal, Tree

La de da

Fall is here...leaves are a pain in the butt.
Sunday, the kids and I stayed at home and Rob went to church. I got laundry done and was able to get a workout in before he got home. I roasted all the vegetables I had in the fridge for later int he week - asparagus, squash, zucchini, peppers, potatoes and butternut squash. We had a light lunch before we all went out to Grandma Chocolate's house. We were meeting all the family there for family clean-out Sunday. I finished packing the closets upstairs and Rob took 2 loads to Salvation Army. We were wacky, Ellie found name stickers and put Hello my name is ___ on everyone. I made is my mission to find a hat for everyone. I ended up taking the PanAm pillbox hat I have been wearing for Halloween. We had a toast with some vintage plum brandy to Grandma - it was the 3rd anniversary of her leaving us on Sunday. With the help of some extra hands we were able to move almost all the furniture down to the 1st floor. Now its just a bedroom set up there. My kids had a ball with Tara, Claire and Pearl (and Tony, too).
We had plans for Sunday night dinner but it was late by the time we left and we were all pretty pooped out. We came home and I re-heated some pasta for the kids and I heated up some of the roasted veggies. Rob and I sat int he living room and we were able to talk (un-interrupted) for a long time. We got the kids to bed and were able to relax on the couch and put our feet up.
Monday I had my last scheduled appointment with Patricia. Ironically, my toes came back to a normal feeling recently and my feet seem to be doing a bit better and I am stopping. Patricia worked on my shoulders which were problematic this time. My feet didn't even flinch when she poked them - progress. I went back to Mom and Dad's and we had lunch before Nick and I took Tony to school. Nick was having breakdown after breakdown - I guess he needs some more sleep. We took a long walk to the park and played and really savored one of the last of the beautiful days. Rob picked Ellie up from cooking class which let Nick and I play a bit longer.
I got the mower started to mulch the leaves for pick up but the bag kept falling off the mower. Well, on the last bag attachment I didn't notice the pull slipped out of the guide and I guess I ran over it. When I went to start the mower again the pull was completely gone. I ended up raking the yard and our trees are still full of leaves.
I came in and got dinner started - we had pasta, garlic bread, roasted veggies and applesauce. I got Nick into an early bath and then bed. Rob has been working on math with Ellie. It was nice to be able to relax an extra hour or so.
This morning I was pulling clothes for the kids when Ellie reminded me it was ethnic color clothes day (red ribbon week at school). I pulled a tie-dye shirt for her because unlike the children who emigrate from one country - Ellie is American and her ancestors came from about 8 different countries. I got Nick to school and had way too many things I wanted to do with my 2 hours this morning. I wanted to really clean the tub upstairs. I peeled the caulk off last night and I wanted to bleach the tub and re-caulk it - didn't happen today. I wanted to hit Target to pick up a few odd and ends I needed - didn't happen. I wanted to bake - this did happen just not during my 2 hours.
I was able to pull and start to list my next batch of ebay listings. This was not something I intended to do but when I went downstairs to do laundry I found several things on top of the dryer that needed to be listed and that just rolled into this project. Mom and Dad came to pick me up and then we went to pick Nick up from school. We grabbed lunch and hit Grandma's house.
We were able to fill all the boxes we had at the house with books today. I asked Rob to pick me up some more boxes from work so we can continue on Thursday. When we left we stopped in at Cost Plus and Trader Joe's. We came home and I got the remaining items listed - 18 total this time. Ellie came home and did her homework and then went outside to play.
I got to work with my baking project. A friend had mentioned baking green tomato bread and I have a ton of green tomatoes left. I did some research and found a recipe than I had all the ingredients to make - it says it will remind you of a zucchini bread (which we all love). I was able to make 4 loaves and it smelled incredible as it was baking. I didn't tell anyone it was tomatoes until after they all had consumed at least half a slice.
We had dinner and then we got the kids into bed. Ellie and I read for a bit and Rob read to Nick. Mom and I have always had this evil pain related synergy between us. When I have something bothering me (hip pain, contractions, twitches) Mom will usually experience the same. Well, my left knee (the one that ran into the doorway) has been killing me. It actually hurts in my sleep and wakes me up. Low and behold, Mom mentioned her left knee was hurting her today - I don't know if I am picking up her pain or vice versa but the synergy is getting out of hand. My shoulders still aren't great - very tight and knotted. Visualising my healthy and continually healing body and the new normal, Tree

Beautiful fall day

Just a quick update on life...
Today we started off at the Cancer Wellness rummage sale. I was able to get a few shirts and sweaters for me and a couple things for Pooka. Nick found a car hauler truck and Ellie found some carved wood matryoshka pens (pretty cool). We came home and the kids got into their costumes and we drove down to Lincoln Park zoo. Only problem was we were not the only people who had that idea. We drove around the loop trying to find a parking space for about 20 minutes before deciding that was not the plan for the day.
We went to Mom and Dad's to hang out - Jo, Ole and Tony had the same idea. I gave Jo a pedicure and Tony wanted in on the action. I cut his toe and finger nails and gave him a massage. Jo had a hankering for caramels and Mom made her wish come true by making a batch. Ellie helped Mom get together trick or treat bags. The boys played outside in the yard.
We picked up pizza on the way home. We had dinner and I put some laundry in and then away. Ellie finished up her homework. Rob and Nick played cars. We got the kids to sleep and have just been relaxing on the couch. Something stinks in our house. I can smell it when I walk in the house but then really downstairs - I think it is the sump pump.
Yesterday was a laid back day. Nick and I went grocery shopping with Mom and Dad. Last night we went to Park Center for their Halloween event. Rob said it was much better organized and designed this year. The kids got to dress in costume and trick or treat, play games, jump in the bounce houses, see a magic show and do crafts. We went to Cici's after the event for dinner.
Thursday Nick finished his 1st week of school and still loves it. We went out to Grandma Chocolate's in the afternoon and met with an estate sale lady who told us there wasn't enough for her to do a sale. Dad and I continued to work - we got a closet cleared out and ready for Salvation to pick up. I found a very chic "PanAm" coat and a sequin top that I could either be Liza Minnelli in or festive to wear to a formal event.
Thursday night we had Millietime here at our house. The nice part of the change of seasons is that we have new food again. I made potato pancakes and spinach artichoke appetizers. Ellie made a herb cheese pull apart bread. We had a little shower for Jo. Mom had the idea of personally decorated bibs for Pooka - it was fun to see every ones creativity. Mom made very tasty vegan carrot oat bars.
I am experiencing phantom port pain. I asked Patricia about it last week and she said it is most likely scar tissue and that she could do acupuncture to the site - I think that would really hurt. My back seems to be pretty much back to normal - yeah! Feet are the same as they have been with the minor change that my toes seem to be back to almost normal. Holy cow it's windy

On Monday I went to visit Patricia and really enjoyed my hour. I have one last appointment scheduled for next week and then I will have given my feet a six month try. I went to pick Nick up at Mom and Dad's and we took Tony to school. We joined Mom and Dad for a Costco run.
I tired to start cleaning up the house - a goal now that Nick is back in school.
We had reheat night for dinner and watched Dancing With the Stars. Tuesday was Nick's 1st day of preschool. So much different than last year. No crying on the way there, no pulling him off of my arm, no screaming as he went into school. He kissed me goodbye and said he would see me later.
I stopped at the library to pick up a couple books for Ellie and some travel books for Disney. I came home and started my cleaning endeavors. Mom and Dad came to pick me up and then we picked Nick up. He had a great 1st day of school. A new thing this year is a sunshine journal - his advocate writes a paragraph about what he did during the morning.
We picked up lunch on the way to Grandma Chocolate's. We ate and then got to work. We had a dumpster dropped and Dad and I were able to completely load it and move onto the next area. Mom and Nick did wonders on organizing. We came home and Ellie got home now too much later. I started an early dinner - partially to warm the house up. I made macaroni and cheese and cut up a pineapple. Ellie helped me make a monkey bread for dessert.
We had the kids take their showers and then we had dinner. Ellie and I did wii and then we got the kids to bed. This morning the alarm didn't go off and Ellie didn't come to wake me either. Throws a whole different urgency into the morning. I quickly got clothes ready and Ellie worked to pack a lunch. Ellie got off to the bus - what a cold, rainy week so far. I got Nick to school and then came back here to clean. I was able to get the dining room table cleaned off and a new tablecloth on. I was able to re-organize the kitchen counters. I went to pick Nick up and then we went over to Mom and Dad's to have lunch with Tony.
We took Tony to school and then Nick and I came home. It was rainy and cold and windy and we cuddled on the couch and watched Cars. I baked some cookies - once again really just to warm up the house. Ellie got home from school and did her homework. Nick and Ellie went downstairs to draw and color. I debated pulling some Halloween decorations down but decided to just chance it.
I made pizza for dinner and we re-heated the mac and cheese. We had the leftover fruit and applesauce from the fridge. After I saw the weather report on the 4:30 news I called Mom and Dad to tell them to stay home and keep warm instead of coming over for dinner. The kids watched Halloween Challenge on Food Network while I did wii. We got the kids up to bed. Ellie and I started reading one of her new books.
My back seems to be improving. My feet are not liking the fact that socks need to be worn. It provides a totally new tingling sensation. Visualising my healthy and continually healing body and the new normal, Tree

I really dislike leaves

We started today with breakfast and then got in the car for a drive. Rob needed some things at Harbor Freight in Arlington Heights. While Rob was there the kids and I went to Kohls. We found Ellie's lunchbox for next year on clearance for $3.59. I found a couple replacement t-shirts - I have been rather sloppy on the stains lately. We stopped in at Whole Foods and lucked into a major amount of samples. We stopped at Goodwill to see if we could find the last costume pieces we needed. Rob is going to be a pirate and we were able to find him pants and a shirt to cut off.
We ran into Menards to pick up a new furnace filter and then we came home. Rob and I started on the first of many leave clean ups. The sad part is our trees haven't even lost their leaves yet. We have 2 ginormous piles of leaves. The kids played nicely with our neighbors. I did a couple loads of laundry. We went over to Mom and Dad's for dinner.
We had a nice dinner of chili-mac, applesauce, fruit and salsa and chips. We had Ellie's cupcakes for dessert. We came home and Ellie and I did wii and Nick and Rob watched JayJay. We got the kids into bed and relaxed on the couch.
Yesterday was one big shopping adventure. We started out at the Boy Scout rummage sale and found a couple things - a fall weight coat for Ellie, a robot for Nick and a couple t-shirts to do something with down the line. We went to another rummage sale in Evanston and found some bargains. Clothes were fill a bag for $5 and then we found some craft things. That is where we picked up the inspiration vest for Rob being a pirate.
We took a long car ride out to East Dundee. Ellie really wanted to go to a thrift store out there that we usually fins her Halloween costumes at. We were not disappointed. Ellie found two possible costumes - Supergirl and this pink vinyl dress that we were thinking Barbie. Our amazing find there was a Mary Engelbreit twin sized bedskirt.
We stopped by Sur la Table mainly for a washroom stop but found a couple things on the clearance rack. We headed home and Rob had just got home too. It was Sweetest day but we had no major plans. We quickly flipped through the tv guide channel and found that Bugs Life was on that night. I helped Ellie get her ingredients ready for cupcakes and I chopped tomatoes for salsa. I ran out to Target to get ice cream and ingredients for banana split sundaes. I came home and the kids were in the pajamas and had made popcorn for the movie.
We watched the movie down stairs and started with our popcorn and then made our own sundaes. The movie was cute and the kids went to bed soon after the movie was over.
Friday, Nick and I hung out in the morning. We got to sneak a lunch date in with Julie and Karlton. They breezed into town for about 36 hours and we were lucky enough to meet for a quick meal. After, Nick and I went to pick up Just Dance 3 - love it! We tried it out when Ellie got home from school. I got some laundry done and we had a laid back night.
This post seems to have taken forever to put together because I have been catching up on tv while blogging. Feet are basically the same as usual. My back seems to be getting better but it depends on what I have done during the day. My left knee (the one I banged into the molding) is super stiff and not so happy. Is it Friday yet?

Easiest way is to work backwards...
Today we got Ellie off to school and then Nick and I had some cuddle time on the couch watching Herbie. Mom and Dad picked us up mid morning to head to Grandma Chocolate's house. We stopped by the post office and Cancer Wellness Center first...I dropped of the raffle tickets Mom, the GGs and I purchased - thank you all. We picked up lunch and went to the house. We ate and then got to work. Dad and I were able to get so far today that I was able to mop the basement before we left.
We came home and relaxed and waited for Ellie to get home from school. Ellie did her homework when she got home and then we went to Meijer. We got 2 of the biggest pumpkins ever - I almost needed to get another cart just to house the pumpkins. We picked up dinner and other essentials. We got 6 pounds of apples to make apple sauce for dinner. We came home and unpacked and got dinner going. We ate and watched Aladdin on tv. We got the kids to sleep and have just been relaxing on the couch.
Yesterday was a crazy day. Ellie woke up coughing...the kids of cough that produces vomit. She had a slight fever and the vomit persisted. I called her into school and took her over to Mom's house. Nick and I had his open house at school. Preschool was fun. New teachers this year, a new advocate for Nick and a new name - now the little wolf pack. I quickly took Nick over to Mom's and was able to give Ms. Kate a quick kiss before heading downtown.
I had an interesting opportunity present itself this week. A casting company in the city was looking for young adult cancer survivors for a commercial. I applied and got the opportunity to audition yesterday. The interview itself wasn't more than 10-15 minutes. I was asked about my diagnosis and care, my family, my life. All I know is it is a commercial for GE and I needed to have had a CT or PET scan in conjunction with my care. Fingers crossed and positive thoughts welcome!
I went back to Mom's and we had lunch. Mom worked on finishing Ellie's curtains. Ellie was feeling a bit better after lunch time. I went home and hung the curtains - which look great and I picked up some food and Rob. We decided to just stay at Mom's house for dinner. I made potatoes and asparagus, Mom had veggie burgers, fruit and corn pudding. We finished dinner and headed home to get the kids into the shower and then into bed.
I cannot for the life of me remember what I did on Tuesday. I think I cleaned up around here. I know that Nick and I cleaned the back room up and I vacuumed the first floor. I know we made cinnamon raisin french toast for dinner and Ellie made a strawberry-kiwi sauce to top it off. The rest of the days happenings are no longer anywhere in my head.
I have had on and off back pain issues. Ironically, I slept in bed last night (opposed to the couch) and I woke up with a worse back. My feet seem to be in a perpetual tingly stage. Oh, I forgot to say...when we were at open house one of the little boys in his class - I went to high school with the mom. We caught up over the open house - too funny. Another beautiful day

Working backwards...Today Ellie and Rob had off for Columbus Day. We had breakfast and then Rob took Nick to Lowes to buy the remaining wood for the train outside and Ellie came with me for my visit with Patricia. I have been talking to Patricia about doing work on Ellie for her migraines and also asthma/allergies. Ellie sat on the chair and watched and did some artwork while I was healing.
Patricia worked on my back again. It felt good and the calm has remained all day. We stopped in at the senior craft/crap fair after. We were able to pick up some Halloween decorations and a Superman costume for Rob. We came home and had lunch - the kids played with the neighbors for a bit. Speaking of neighbors, our went apple picking and bought us back apples and cider - how very nice.
Mom and Dad picked us up and we went up to Grandma Chocolate's house. We figured with 3 adults we could get some major work done in the basement - and we did. We came home and the kids went straight outside. I worked with Rob to finish up the train - looks great. I stained the front and now we just need the lights to be wired up.
I found a gift card for Chili's so that is what we had for dinner. They have a new trio of grilled veggie tacos that are quite tasty. Ellie and I did Just Dance and Rob and Nick watched Annie. We got the kids to sleep and relaxed on the couch for a bit.
Yesterday we were on for nursery duty at Church. Nick got to move into the next group so it was just us and 1 baby in nursery. Nick was so happy to be able to do a craft. The trees are so pretty around Church right now. We visited for a bit after and then headed home. Rob worked on the train, I got my ingredients ready for Jo's party. Jo's coworkers were having a work party for her and invited Mom, Ellie and me. I made my pesto salad to bring with.
Mom picked Ellie and me up and we headed over to Marsha's house. They had made the party Eclipse themed - very elegant shower with the black, white and red. Marsha had quite the spread of food and party games to boot. We had lots of laughs and Pooka will be very well dressed. Mom brought us home and I got dinner together. We got the kids into a shower and then to bed.
Saturday, hmmm, having trouble recalling Saturday. I know we went over to Mom and Dad's for a bit. I know Rob worked in the morning. I think we played outside in the yard all afternoon. I know I stained the train because in moving the gallon of stain I spilled it all over my foot and shoe. Now my left foot is slightly darker and shinier than my right. We went to Mariano's in the evening to get dinner, groceries and taffy apples.
I am slightly relieved the closest Mariano's is a bit away because dinner and the taffy apples were quite decadent. Rob and the kids had sandwiches, I had the grilled veggie pizza and we all enjoyed. The apples they have right now are humongous. They are huge apples to begin with but then they are very generous on the caramel and even more generous on the toppings. The bags are labeled 22ounces but I am pretty sure they are more.
It was Ellie's first time shopping there and she loved it and all the samples. We came home and got the kids to bed. Let's see what else is new...we keep adding to our outdoor Halloween decorations. I thoughts about dressing the scarecrows up in costumes - might be too much. Feet are still the same. I always hope that one day I will wake up, put my feet on the floor and not feel tingles. We go for the open house at preschool on Wednesday - Nick is excited. Visualising my healthy and continually healing body and the new normal, Tree

Catching up

Been a few productive days but also laid back days. Didn't really do too much today. We went to Mom and Dad's and had lunch, watched some videos and took a walk. We came home and played outside until it was dark. I made pizza for dinner and we got the kids into a shower and then bed.
Yesterday, Dad chaperoned Ellie's field trip to Miami Woods. Ellie had asked if Dad could come with and he said yes. They spread seeds, caught and looked at bugs and observed nature. They had a truly beautiful day to be out in the woods. Mom came over and finished Nick's curtains, they looks great. I was even able to remove the room darkening film from his windows. We also finished up the craft project for the get together for Jo and her coworkers.
After Ellie came home from school, she asked if she could go over to Catherine's house. Rob came home and worked on the train for a bit - looks good just needs the control panel mounted and the front face of the train. I took Ellie (and her American Girl) over to Catherine's. Nick asked if he could play with Su'nana and I ended up staying and visiting with Christi. We stayed until it got dark and came home and had dinner and got ready for bed. Rob volunteered to get Nick to sleep.
Wednesday Nick got to go to college. He was eligible for a new study int he early learning lab. He was so funny, he took his backpack full of toys with him. This was the first time he went with the student alone and I got to sit outside and listen. He talked non-stop right through the study. It was looking at preference. 3 stories were read and Nick had to choose his favorite and tell her why he chose it.
We walked over to the lake after the study. We ran into Target to look through Halloween decorations but really didn't find anything. We came home and had lunch and then ventured out to Menards. We were able to pick up scarecrow heads and corn stalks there. We came home and decorated the front yard a bit more. Ellie came home and played outside until Mom and Dad came for dinner.
We had a nice dinner together and then we watched the Middle. Mom helped Ellie study for her states test. Dad read Nick a book. Ellie got 104% on her test (bonus 4% for knowing which river was in the region).
I know I will regret writing this thought (because that is always what happens when I write about it) but I am totally sleeping right now. I have been falling asleep a bit before 1AM and sleeping until 7:30AM. The knee I bumped into the molding a couple weeks ago has been acting up and doesn't feel so great. My back had been better - easily repaired with the hot pad. I picked a bumper crop of tomatoes today - incredible that I still am getting red tomatoes in October. Woohoo for sun

Rob came home early on Sunday morning...no power or heat led to not being able to be too productive up at the cottage. I went into organizational mode. Rob built me some new shelves for my closet and installed them. Every time I grab a sweater a pile of at least 10 fall down. The new shelves let me stack all my sweaters and all the sheet sets for our bed and I even have an empty shelf.
I got major amounts of laundry done and even more put away. I was able to clean off part of my dresser. Ellie really wanted to make cupcakes for family Sunday. I got her out a bowl but she did the rest. She decorated each differently with sprinkles, nuts and fudge and white frosting. Rob worked to clean out his car while the kids enjoyed the sunshine outside.
We went over to Mom and Dad's for family Sunday. Quite a spread, like always, vegan paella, salmon, salad, corn pudding, applesauce, Grandma GGs white pasta and cauliflower. We had a lovely dinner on the porch. The kids provided entertainment as always. We came home and got the kids into a bath and then to bed.
Yesterday, I woke up with a bad back. It moved up from where it was last week. Luckily, I had an appointment with Patricia. I took Nick over to Mom and Dad's and then was off for some relief. Patricia could feel the knots - more on the right side than the left. I think there were several dozen needles in, Patrica even stood back to admire her work. I had a histamine reaction on the right side. I can honestly say that I felt better by the end of the session.
I stopped at Trader Joe's on the way back to Mom's to pick up some stuff for Millietime. When I got to Mom's she was re-melting our project from last week. We tried to make it better. It was better on the color front but ultimately we used the same mold and not the newly acquired molds. We had dinner and then Nick and I headed home to cook and to pick up Ellie.
I made a pesto couscous and garlic crostini for Millietime. We picked up Ellie from school and then went back to Mom's to drive together to Millies. Ellie did her homework, I sampled Mom's vegan noodle kugel - delish! We went over to Mrs. B's for Millies. It has been too long since we got together. We got to Skype with Kelly and Molly. The kids enjoyed playing with each other.
Today when I woke up my back felt completely better. Nick and I went up to Grandma Chocolate's house with Mom and Dad. Dad and I were really able to make incredible progress in the basement. We left and had lunch and then a bit of shopping at Michaels. Mom and Dad took us home and we relaxed until Ellie got home.
After homework was done the kids were outside enjoying the weather. I went out and pulled out Halloween decorations. The kids all helped and were thrilled to decorate. It was nice not having to do it alone. We got the lights up and all the pumpkins hanging in the trees. We came in and the kids showered and we had dinner. Rob got home and we decided to get the kids to bed early. Nick has been waking up a couple times a night and he is lacking some sleep.
I think my body didn't like something I did today because I have all left side back pain now. Hot pad seems to be helping a bit. Visualising my healthy and continually healing body and the new normal, Tree

Worn out

I will work backwards...
Today we got out early to hit one of my favorite rummage sales, well usually favorite. We have been buying the same ladies hand me downs for years and she warned me last year that her daughter was in juniors. The funny thing, I didn't call Jo because I thought she would have said no to joining us but low and behold, we pull in and she is honking her horn at us.
I was able to find a few pairs of jeans for Ellie and Jo found me a pair of pants for Nick. While standing in line to check out Nick found a train set that works with the set we have and Ellie found a pair of fall boots. We went our separate ways after the rummage sale. We came home and had lunch. We were then off to the school fun fair. The kids played games and visited with friends and we entered the raffle. We enjoyed the afternoon sun while the kids played in the park.
We came home for a bit before deciding to cruise out for an adventure. We are in need of some pants for Ellie and a Halloween costume for her. I had stocked up on pants for her over the past year or so and now none of them fit her - either too short or too snug in the waist. We had a arm full of clothes at the first thrift store. A couple pairs of jeans for Ellie, brand new infant sets for the kids to design for Pooka and a few shirts for Nick.
We only found method cleaning supplies at Salvation but still a good score because of the price. We found drawer pull knobs at Habitat restore and a few hinges for the kids wooden train panel. We were all hungry and there was a request for Cracker Barrel - so that is where we went. The kids ate well and behaved - hot cocoa kept them busy. We still hadn't found Ellie a costume and she was nervous that we wouldn't (I did remind her that Halloween was like 30 days away). We tried Goodwill. No costume but we did find her a couple more pairs of jeans. We did luck out at Salvation - a bridesmaid dress that we are going to turn into a princess of some sort.
We stopped into Garden Fresh to do some grocery shopping. We came home and had a snack and Ellie and I did some laundry and worked out. I know it was a long day because Ellie asked if she could just go straight to bed without reading and Nick was asleep in less than 10 minutes.
Rob left for Michigan yesterday. He went up with our friend, Brannon. I got a call from him around 10PM saying there was no power when they pulled in. Trees were down everywhere and it looked like a war zone. The strong winds that were here apparently picked up over the lake and really wreaked havoc . They decided to spend the night in the dark and lit some candles. They were painting and doing the cottage close up this weekend.
The kids and I went to a rummage sale last night. We hit a gold mine with pants for Nick. It is so hard to find used pants for him because most boys abuse their knees and butts. We had dinner at Cici's pizza and then came home.
I had an appointment with Patricia yesterday. I asked her to work on my back. I can honestly say I felt better in the hour. I think I had about 4 dozen needles in - neck, shoulders, back. legs and feet. I asked her about my feet and how they seem to be more sensitive lately - could be a good sign because they could be waking up.
Thursday, Ellie had off of school. We went out to Grandma Chocolate's house for a little bit to do some work. We were cut short by ComEd turning off the power in the neighborhood. We did some shopping and had lunch. We hit Trader Joe's and Nick got to push his little cart. The kids watched Annie in the car so the entire rest of the evening was in song to the melody of Annie songs.
I am tired; we traveled a bunch of places over the last few days. The good news is that I now think I am good for clothes for the kids for the fall/winter season. Visualising my healthy and continually healing body and the new normal, Tree
