Happy Wednesday

Honestly, not much to blog about tonight. I have had a very laid back week so far. I did grocery shopping on Monday. Ran to Target today to pick up the things I forgot. I did something weird to my neck this morning...pinched a nerve or something. It is one of those things that you do and have instant pain and then you can't rotate your neck entirely until it becomes un-pinched.
I finished re-upholstering the dining room chairs and they look and feel great. The kids are back in school and are trying to re-adjust. I have had to wake Nick up the past two mornings. Mom and Dad came over for dinner tonight - we had tacos and Mom brought green beans and corn pudding. I tried to make a brownie mix vegan with flax eggs and they turned out edible but interesting. I have never had brownies bubble like lava 20 minutes into cooking.

The End of a Very Long week

We made it through the week off of school without killing each other. Too many things have happened since my last post to possibly try to re-create each day. This post will be an a la carte post of highlights.
We had Thanksgiving dinner at the GGs house. Uncle Bry came down from Baraboo. Mom made her vegan "turkey day in a bowl" casserole. The kids entertained us in the bay window.
I did some shopping online on Thursday night/Friday morning...no going out for me. I did hit Unique in the morning and there were only about 10 people in the store. Imagine that, black Friday and no one is at the thrift store...silly people. Ellie and I ran out later in the morning and got the foam to reupholster the dining room chairs. We came home and started that project. I got 2 chairs finished before we called it a day. Mom and I reupholstered them about 8 years ago, so you have to remove that layer and then the original layer and there are at least 150 staples per chair.
Mom and Dad took Ellie, Nick and Tony for an overnight on Friday. Rob was working a basketball game and Ole was studying, so Jo, Matteo and I went shopping. We went to Target and Walmart. We had dinner together before ending the evening at Goodwill.
I did my usual Saturday Salvation run. I thought, for sure, it would be totally picked over since they had a huge sale on Friday but I was able to get a cartful. Jo called and we did a bit more shopping before we headed to Mom and Dad's to pick the kids up.
The kids have been asking when we were going to put Christmas up for about the last week. I decided Saturday afternoon was a good time. Ellie and Nick helped me bring the boxes up from the basement and put the tree together. It took a couple hours but the living room is decorated. One casualty...a snow globe in one of the boxes broke and leaked all over the bottom of the box. At least it broke on the way up the stairs and not a year ago.
Today we hung out in the morning. We went to the library to get some new books. Nick had a birthday party at Jump Zone. Ellie came with, too. They really tired themselves out jumping and running around. We went to Mom and Dad's for dinner. It was just the 5 of us.
This week my goal is to try to get a couple boxes listed and cleared out. I start volunteering in Nick's class on Tuesday morning. Visualizing my healthy and continually healing body and the new normal, Tree

Happy Thanksgiving

I hope everyone reading this has a lovely Thanksgiving with family and friends.
Monday was the only day of school for the kids this week. I got to visit with both of their teachers for conferences. They both went well and the kids are where they are to be. Ellie watched Nick for the couple minutes I had to run to school...without killing one another.
Tuesday we went downtown to Macy's for our annual lunch with Mom and Dad. We ate in the Walnut Room. Matteo joined us this year, too. It was nice, we didn't have to wait too long and they really weren't hurrying us along at the table. We weren't too far from the tree. The fairy came around to grant our wishes...the glitter she bestows over our heads will be there come Christmas. We saw Santa and the kids got to tell him their list. The kids dropped their lists off in the Believe mailbox before we went outside to see the windows.
We spent the afternoon at Mom and Dad's house. We watched Christmas Story 2. The kids played with Matteo. We left and went to Costco to do some shopping. We needed to pick up fruit for the week, milk and the kids wanted to look through the toy aisles. We ate at Culver's for dinner before heading home.
Wednesday morning we went to see Wreck It Ralph at the movie theater. It was a cute movie. The theater was packed and we ended up in the front section because there weren't any seats up. We did a bit of shopping at Meijer. We took the folding table over the the GGs for Thanksgiving. We helped set the table while we were there. We came home and the kids played outside until it got dark. We picked up videos from the store and pizza for dinner. The new Family video in Skokie is great. For each new release you get a free older video. We left with 8 videos for $4.00.
We watched Eloise Christmas after dinner. We got ready for bed and I read to each of the kids and tucked them in. When I came downstairs, I realized that Charlie Brown's Thanksgiving was on and I called them down to watch the last part.
Rob has had a basketball game each night this week and has one on Friday and Saturday, too. He didn't get home until late tonight. Visualizing my healthy and continually healing body and the new normal, Tree

Project Weekend

It was odd job time in our house. I forfeited listing more on ebay not knowing how holiday auctions would pan out. My gut said people wouldn't be watching auctions and my clothes wouldn't sell. Instead I replaced the gasket on the freezer. A bigger job than I thought it was going to be. We have been holding the door closed with velro for about a year now. Seems to be holding the icy air in again.
I cooked for Nick's Thanksgiving feast at school - corn pudding cups, mashed potato balls and pumpkin muffins. The feast was on Friday morning at school and the kids got to decorate their pilgrim hats. It was pretty cute to watch the kids eat. I went with Mom, Dad and TeTe to Target afterwards. We haven't been shopping together in forever. We finished our adventure with Starbucks...yum.
I did my Saturday salvation run. Either their supply is thinning or more people are buying during the week but I left with only a bag. Rob took the kids on an adventure. The began at church for a work party to take down some diseased tree and shrubs. They ran to the bank and to return and get videos. The weather has been beautiful so they spent a great deal of the day outside. I had a batch of auctions end on Saturday so I spent some time packaging up to mail out.
We worked together and got the Christmas lights strung up outside. We only turned them on the check them and make sure they were spread out evenly...they will get their turn at the end of the week. We ordered some pizzas and watcher Arthur Christmas together for movie night.
This morning, Rob left early to go and paint. The kids and I started in the back room cleaning up and then the living room. Odd job of the day was the china cabinet. I broke the side pane of glass about 2 years ago while pushing on the glass, instead of the wood, to move the cabinet. The kids use the empty pane to pass their treasures into safe keeping. I was just planning on switching the glass from the right side to the left side but it turned into an all out cleaning. Ellie helped me empty the cabinet and remove all the glass to wash and dry it before replacing it. We have a box of our pottery that we are going to break to re purpose into a different craft.
We went to Mom and Dad's house for dinner. Mom had chik'n patties, turkey, broccoli, melon, salad and a spread we grew up on (veganized). I bought corn pudding and potatoes and Jo bought brussel sprouts. My life is complete now...Brandy ice cream is back at Oberweiss...yum! The kids played and we had a good time.
We came home and had showers and got PJs on. We watched some movie on Disney before heading up to read and get to bed. Still have to finish cleaning the dining room and kitchen but then I feel like we could bring up the Christmas boxes and not feel cramped. Time Flies...Again

I cannot believe how quickly the time is flying by. Not too much to post about from the first part of the week. I am listing like crazy. I am trying to get most of my boxes listed because I don't want to really have to do auctions too much past the 1st week of December. We need the space back in the living room for the holidays and I really want to avoid the Skokie post office then. I got 2 boxes listed, hoping to knock out another 2.
I took Nick to his follow up appointment with Dr. Schaefer, his allergist. He is now old enough to get some baseline numbers on his breathing. We went home with a baby saline rinse kit and a peak flow meter. We need to get his data for the next month to find out his base. Hopefully, we won't need to see her again this winter.
Ellie had her last ballet lesson on Monday. They will rehearse during lunch periods until the concert in December. She and her friends in student leadership raised over $240.00 in their UNICEF boxes.
Rob had off on Monday for the holiday but took a side job painting at someones house. I think he was able to get about half done.
I sealed the back room door today. It is off level and we get quite a draft that comes in. I tucked in felt and then insulating taped all around...seems to have done the trick. Added a piece of felt to the top of the front storm door to cover a slight draft there, too.
I think that is about all I got. Visualizing my healthy and continually healing body and the new normal, Tree

I Guess I Only Posted in My Dream

Not too much to share from last week really. Nick finished Star of the Week with his favorite toy , a Lightening McQueen flash light. His favorite books was Niccolini's Song about a night watchman in a rail yard  I had a Tony and TT day on Friday morning. He helped drop things at the post office and then we did a bit of shopping before getting lunch at Cici's and dropping him at school.
The weekend was beautiful here. Winding, but beautiful. I did my Saturday morning Salvation run and really lucked out with 3 huge bags. Ellie wanted to help Rob out in the garage organizing. Nick played outside, too.  We had family movie night and watched the Chipmunks and ate popcorn.
We started off at church yesterday morning. We were the parents for Ellie's Sunday school group. We were able to find a taker for one of our fake fireplaces and dropped it off to Rob's cousins house. The kids played for a while when we visited. Nick had his first birthday party for a school friend at Chuck E. Cheese. Ellie came with and played games while Nick birthday'd. It was total chaos and I don't think I need to go back there ever again.
We went to Mom and Dad's for dinner. Mom had quite a feast...turkey legs, potatoes, green beans, we tried the new Trader Joe turkey-less roast (okay nothing great). We got to play and visit with Jo, Tony and TeTe before we left.
The kids have been waking up early since the time change. If I adjust their bedtime, though, they still wake up early so I guess we will just have to deal with it. Visualizing my healthy and continually healing body and the new normal, Tree

Week is Flying By

I truly haven't done much this week and it is now half over. I qualified for a market research study tomorrow on cancer, it pays pretty well, so I decided not to list on ebay this week. I had 120 auctions end this week so I have been busy shipping off packages.
Nick is star of the week at school so he had a "all about me" poster we had to complete, he had to fill an estimation jar and today he had a surprise pack which he had to provide clues for his classmates to guess what was in the box. Tomorrow is show and tell and then Friday his favorite book. We also have this family turkey project which we have been tackling a bit each day and letting the glue and paint dry in between.
Ellie has one more week of ballet class. She prances around, or should I say jete's around the house. We went to the library together on Monday night and picked out some new books for her to try.
Tonight we had a baby shower for CC at Kate's house. It was nice to see CC and Adie, they don't come around too much. We filled in our baby guess grid...got to include sex this time since she didn't find out. There were some good things to eat. Mrs. B and I were on the same thinking...we both bought goat cheese and green tomato items.
The lilies Rob gave me for my birthday and just starting to open and are filling the house with a beautiful aroma. I am looking forward to a bit warmer weekend ahead. I am not ready for snow just yet. Visualizing my healthy and continually healing body and the new normal, Tree

Happy Birthday to Me

It has been a very lovely birthday weekend. On Thursday, we met Dean, Lauren and the girls to see the circus. We were able to grab dinner together before. The show was fun...a bit different than usual. Also, a bit longer than usual, we didn't get out of the show until well after 9:00.
My official birthday was Friday. I had the opportunity to speak with a friend who needed some help through their journey. I spend the rest of the day listing on ebay. Mom and Dad took the kids overnight so Rob and I could have a date night. We went to dinner at Graziano's and then to see Pitch Perfect. It was so nice to be able to have a conversation and the movie was very funny.
Saturday morning I got up and got out to Salvation. They rearranged a bit over there this week and I think they already weeded out some of the color of the week tags. It wasn't a great picking day but wasn't too bad either. I did a quick run to the other store and then picked up the kids at Mom and Dad's. They had had a great overnight and didn't want to leave. We came home and the kids didn't really want to do anything but hang low. I ended up listing for a bit. In the late afternoon we took a road trip. We did a bit of thrifting. We fit Target for Halloween clearance. We had dinner together and then headed back home.
Today we got up and everyone seemed pretty happy with the time change. We went to church. We came home and Ellie and I ran to return books to the library and Nick and Rob worked on the leaves. We went to Mom and Dad's for family Sunday. Today was Matteo's 1st birthday. Mom made chicken parmigiana (vegan & real), pastas, salad, cabbage, fruit, cranberry sauce. It was a very good meal with brownies for dessert. Jo made TeTe a rainbow cake. We got to visit with the GGs down on our end of the table.
It has been a great weekend. Visualizing my healthy and continually healing body and the new normal, Tree

Happy Halloween

I know it is November 1st, technically, but I had to close my eyes for a little bit and then suddenly it was midnight. I'll keep it short. I have been doing a bunch of shipping this week. My best sale this week belongs to a ten cent Patagonia neck muffler I bought at a rummage sale. A small piece of fleece that warms your neck...$66.00. Sold to a person in Guam.
It was crazy busy today. I did a huge delivery to the post office. I did some listings this morning. I got the house cleaned up for the evening. I went to school to help with Nick's party. I was in charge of the lollipop spider craft. It was fun to be there and get to meet some of Nick's classmates. The time flew by though. Nick and I got home and I got to work fixing food for dinner. Dean, Lauren and the girls were coming over for trick or treating and dinner. Ellie came home with our neighbor  Rustine. He was locked out and his parents weren't home from work yet. All the kids played in the basement  Rob got home from work and then Dean & Lauren arrived. We all ate dinner together and then the kids got ready to trick or treat.
It was fun to have company trick or treating. Dean usually comes over but to have friends for the kids to walk with was cool. It wasn't too cold walking - Nick did get cold the last few blocks. We came home and Dad had dropped off care packages from Mom and Mrs. B, Ms. Katherine and JoJo. We had dessert and then Dean & Lauren left. We got the kids ready for school in the morning. Watched Charlie Brown on television and then went up to get the kids to bed .Rob and I watched some television and played on the computers in the back room and then I closed my eyes.
It was a busy day with running here and there but fun. So many things that we normally do weren't done this year and that was an okay thing. We didn't carve pumpkins this year...didn't even decorate them with crayons or gems. I didn't get any pictures of the kids together in front because our favorite tree lost its leaves weeks ago. We have tickets to the circus for tonight and my birthday on Friday - guess the running will go for a couple more days. Visualizing my healthy and continually healing body and the new normal, Tree
